Li and I have been here for a few days now. We arrived on Saturday morning after a long but comfortable bus ride from Lima. We did not have much difficulty hailing a taxi and making our way to the TNT (group we are working for) office. After meeting Diana (the Spanish teacher for many volunteers), we hailed another taxi to our homestay for the next month. Luis and Adina are the owners of the home, and they are a very nice elderly couple with three daughters, one of whom lives in the U.S. All conversations are in Spanish so Li and I are definitely making some progress in our listening skills and continually attempt new sentence constructions and ideas.
We stopped by the TNT office yesterday afternoon to figure out exactly what it is that we'll be doing here. After about two hours in the office (most of which was spent talking to Brenda, one of the directors), we decided to work at the school in the afternoons teaching English and playing games. We're supposed to start today, but we aren't exactly sure where we are to go. There was some sort of miscommunication regarding when Li and I would be told about where and when we have to be somewhere.
So, we're just going to show up at the office at 2pm (cause teaching would start at 3pm), and we will see if they can direct us from there.
We'll see what happens...
